THE BABBLING BROOK HOUSE

When planning the exterior design makeover for the new porch on this ranch style home, we wanted to be mindful of functionality and aesthetics.
Correcting issues with the front porch on this home was a lot of work. The original porch that appears in the picture was in really poor shape and as a result, we had to take it out.

We ended up building the porch from pressure-treated lumber much like you build a deck. Then, we wrapped the entire deck in PVC trim and painted the PVC and stained the deck to coordinate with the color scheme of the house.
This was probably my favorite or one of my favorite aspects of this project because it was my first time designing a porch wrap with this much detail.

I scoured the Internet looking for a design that would work well with the look and feel of the home.
I eventually found a style that I liked but there was only one photograph and that photograph did not have any information regarding what type of products were used or how it was assembled or installed. Nor did it explain how the deck was framed underneath in order to make a base frame for the trim.

I spent a lot of time in hardware stores and supply houses looking for the materials necessary to create my design. I drew everything out on paper with calculations based on the overall dimensions of the porch.
My overall goal was to create a design that enhances the look of the porch rather than takes away from it like most deck enclosures do. I think it came out awesome!
